Terms of service
Last updated 21 October 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use legitscore.net and any Legit Score report, badge, API or other service (together, the “Service”). The Service is provided by [company legal name, registered address and company number to be confirmed] (“Legit Score”, “we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you use it for an organisation, you confirm you can agree on its behalf.
2. A Legit Score is an evaluative opinion
A Legit Score, its confidence band, tier, reason codes, Real Reach Estimate and any related output (together, a “Score”) is our automated, evaluative opinion about the characteristics of an account’s audience. It is based on statistical sampling of publicly available data and on proprietary models, and it carries a stated margin of uncertainty.
A Score is not a statement of fact about any person, and it is not an accusation of wrongdoing by the account holder or anyone else. Patterns in an audience can have many causes outside an account holder’s control. Every Score carries this notice:
A Legit Score is an automated, evaluative opinion about audience characteristics, based on statistical sampling and proprietary models. It is not a statement of fact or an accusation of wrongdoing. Subscription status never influences a score.
Scores change over time as audiences change, as new samples are taken and as the engine is updated. Each Score shows the engine version that produced it. How Scores are made is described on our methodology page.
3. How you may and may not use Scores
Scores are for brand-safety, media-planning and self-improvement purposes. We recommend a person reviews the full report before any commercial decision.
You must not use a Score, or any part of the Service:
- as a factor in deciding a person’s eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, housing or tenancy, or for any other purpose covered by the US Fair Credit Reporting Act or a similar law. Legit Score is not a consumer reporting agency and Scores are not consumer reports;
- to describe any account or person as having acted dishonestly or unlawfully, or to present a Score as proof of that;
- to harass, threaten, embarrass or single out any person, including people in an audience sample;
- to publish or resell Scores or reports in bulk, or to build a competing dataset, except under a written agreement with us;
- to try to identify the individual followers or commenters behind aggregate results, or to reverse engineer our models, thresholds or benchmarks;
- to scrape, overload or interfere with the Service, or to get around its limits or security.
When you share a Score, share it with its tier, confidence band and date, and do not edit it so that it gives a different impression.
4. Paying never changes a score
Some parts of the Service are paid, including Legit Verified, one-off reports and business plans. Subscription and payment status are never inputs to a Score. Paying cannot raise, lower, hide or delay a Score, and not paying cannot lower one. Our scoring systems have no access to billing data.
The Legit Verified badge confirms that we have verified the account holder’s identity and that the account is being monitored. It does not change the Score and is not a platform verification mark.
Disputes and opt-out requests are free for everyone, whether or not they have an account or a subscription.
5. Accounts, plans and cancellation
You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Prices, taxes, refunds and any statutory cancellation rights will be shown at checkout. [Refund policy to be confirmed.]
If you claim an account, you confirm that you own or are authorised to manage it. We may ask for proof and may remove a claim we cannot verify.
6. Disputes and opt-outs
If you think a Score about your account is wrong, you can dispute it, and you can ask us to hide a Score or to leave you out of audience samples. We aim to acknowledge a request within 72 hours and resolve it within 14 days. See disputes and opt-outs and our privacy notice.
7. Independent of the platforms
Legit Score is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Meta, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Google, X or any other platform. Platform names and marks belong to their owners and are used only to identify the accounts being described. A Score reflects our analysis, not the view of any platform.
8. Our content and yours
We own the Service, the LEGIT Engine, our models and methodology, and the reports we produce. You may use reports you obtain for your own internal purposes and share individual Scores in line with section 3. Anything you send us, such as dispute evidence, stays yours; you give us permission to use it to handle your request and to improve the Service.
9. No guarantee
We work to make Scores careful and consistent, but they are statistical opinions based on samples and third-party data that may be incomplete or out of date. To the extent the law allows, the Service and all Scores are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or campaign results.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for lost profits, revenue, deals, sponsorships, goodwill or data, arising from the Service or any Score;
- our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and US$100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Suspension and ending
We may suspend or end access to the Service if you break these terms or if we must do so by law. You can stop using the Service at any time. Sections 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10 continue to apply after access ends.
12. Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you before it takes effect. These terms are governed by [governing law and courts to be confirmed]. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact forms on our disputes page until a dedicated contact address is published.
